With school holidays coming up what are some of the great things to do with Kids in Joburg and Pretoria? Last week we looked at the Animal Encounters you can have, this week is all about adventurous activities which should ensure they sleep well that night.
What kid doesn’t love a bike. Mine have been using those plastic ones since they could walk, and more recently my eldest adores her peddle bike! I think I am reaching the age whereby she can come with me when I am running on her bike which will be a lot of fun! Bikes also maximize the best that Joburg has to offer - the weather and space / nature!
Groenkloof Nature Reserve.
Wonderful day trip (but be warned there is no cafe so take lots of water and a picnic). There are numerous bike trails from 20km down to 2km, all passing by giraffe and zebra. Its also a great place to hike, or take a guided horse trails. Lovely picnic area with jungle gym. Not sure how busy it would be during the week, but great place to take a big group of people for braai.

Joburg is full of small parks, I have met many a friend at a park, either because of our dog or with the kids. Our favourite park is the small park in bordeaux. It's set up a great bike track with traffic lights, stop signs, different loops. Brilliant for your toddlers and young children to play around on.
PWC Bike Park
This is a wonderful place for the whole family. You can take a trail ride or mess around on the rolling hills BMX track. There is a great jungle gym and bouncy castle for smaller kids if they get fed up of bikes. Whilst older children will enjoy the freedom to explore the many different tracks and trails. The park even run classes and have one on one instructors to support if required.
Its a real gem of a place for the whole family to enjoy all year round.
